Hand-forged from mild steel at our Wolds Farm workshop, each piece curves upward in a smooth, continuous motion—symbolizing growth, energy, and the natural rhythms of life.
Available in a variety of finishes including rustic patina, galvanised steel, verdigris, and multiple hand-painted options, the Spiral Sculpture is a stunning centrepiece that complements both contemporary and traditional garden settings. Whether displayed solo or grouped in a series, it brings a sense of calm sophistication and sculptural elegance to any outdoor space.
The most simplistic yet stunning, our Spiral Sculpture exudes elegance — unapologetically modern with a vintage twist. The creation process begins the old-fashioned way: pencil to paper. Charles hand-draws each design in his studio, capturing the intricate details and dimensions before work begins. Crafted from raw 8mm flat sheet mild steel, the spiral starts life as a plain, lifeless sheet.
Charles and the team carefully calculate the lengths needed and cut the steel into elongated triangular pieces. When necessary, sheets are joined to achieve the required size before the real magic happens. These precisely cut triangles are fed through enormous vintage rollers in the studio — a process so demanding it sometimes requires four team members to hold and guide the heavy, lengthy steel. Through 10 to 12 rolls, the sheets transform into stunning curves, corkscrews, and waves that bring the sculpture to life.
Two corkscrew pieces are then carefully positioned together and mounted on a base that will be concealed once installed, ensuring the sculpture appears to float seamlessly. Once fully formed, the Spiral undergoes a thorough sandblasting process, guaranteeing a flawless finish regardless of the finish chosen.
Available finishes include the luxurious rustic patina with its warm orangey tones, a durable hot zinc galvanised coat offering a lifetime of protection and a sleek silvery grey appearance, and a selection of hand-painted finishes such as classic verdigris & gold or contemporary matte black & copper. For those seeking a personalised touch, full powder coating in any RAL colour is also available. With multiple sizes, styles, and finishes to choose from, the Spiral Sculpture is a versatile and captivating choice — perfect for adding timeless sophistication to any garden or outdoor space.
