About the studio
Charles Elliott Sculpture is a British studio creating contemporary sculpture for private collectors, architects, designers and public-art projects worldwide. Founded by sculptor Charles Elliott, the studio combines fine craftsmanship with contemporary design, creating works that live harmoniously in their surroundings and resonate for generations. From the rural studio at Wolds Farm in the Chiltern Hills, every sculpture is designed, formed and finished by hand. Though the studio is just over a decade old, the journey began almost twenty-five years ago, with a young boy, a family forge, and a fascination with form.
A quarter-century in the making
A natural eye for form and movement
Born in 1993, Charles grew up surrounded by the countryside, creativity and horses. At the age of ten he began learning to shape steel in his uncle's forge, working alongside his brother, now a professional farrier who shoes horses across the UK. Those early days observing his brother's work, and the anatomy, motion and power of horses, deeply influenced his understanding of form, structure and balance.
By 2009, aged sixteen, Charles completed his first commission: a steel sculpture for a client in the United States. Two years later, in 2011, a second followed. For a self-taught teenager, these projects marked the beginning of an international career before the age of twenty.
The first studio, Hawridge & Chesham Vale
Charles opened his first professional studio in Hawridge, near Chesham Vale, surrounded by farmland and horses. Here he developed his distinctive sculptural language, exploring how movement and emotion could be expressed through the permanence of metal.
He began creating equestrian and wildlife sculptures, translating the grace and power of animals into steel, bronze and oxidised finishes. Each piece became a study of energy, anatomy and spirit, blending fine art with an understanding gained from a lifetime around horses.
International growth and design collaboration
Charles's sculptures were increasingly commissioned internationally, particularly to the United States. Working with architects, hotel groups and landscape designers, he created bespoke sculptures for distinguished developments and private estates across Florida, New York and Texas, blending creative design with engineering precision.
By 2018 the studio had outgrown its original home and relocated to a larger site in Berkhamsted, allowing for more complex fabrication and a growing team of artists and craftspeople.

For the 2018 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Charles created the centrepiece of the Shakespeare-inspired ‘Love with the Mind’ garden: a bespoke sculpture of a blind kiss, love felt rather than seen. The garden was awarded an RHS Silver-Gilt medal.

Supporting British equestrian sport
Horses remain at the heart of the studio, both in inspiration and in community. Since 2018, Charles has proudly supported British equestrian sport, sponsoring talented young riders including Joseph Stockdale, international showjumper and son of Olympic medallist Tim Stockdale; David Britnell, British event rider competing at Badminton Horse Trials; and Alex Harrison, professional British Dressage competitor and trainer.
This commitment reflects the studio's belief in nurturing the next generation of British talent, whether in sport or the arts.
Expanding global partnerships
Charles Elliott Sculpture continued to collaborate with architects, designers and developers across the UK, Europe and the United States, creating site-specific sculptures for hotels, commercial properties and public spaces. From contemporary corten-steel installations to elegant bronze commissions, each work is made in Britain and installed worldwide by Charles and his team, ensuring consistency, precision and personal care at every stage.
This period saw the development of long-term partnerships with designers, property developers and art consultants, solidifying the studio's international reputation for delivering complex projects with a deeply personal touch.
Wolds Farm Studio, Tring
The studio entered its newest chapter with the move to Wolds Farm, Tring, a larger countryside space designed for creativity, collaboration and growth. Located in the Chiltern Hills, it combines traditional tools with modern fabrication techniques, a reflection of Charles's belief that innovation should always honour heritage.
With Tring Station nearby, the location connects directly to London and Milton Keynes, and offers discreet access for international visitors via Heathrow or Luton. Helicopter arrivals and chauffeur collections can be arranged by appointment, allowing clients to visit privately and experience the sculptures in person.

Now in its second decade, Charles Elliott Sculpture stands as one of Britain's leading independent sculpture studios, working with private collectors, architects and commercial clients across the world. From equestrian and wildlife sculptures that capture movement and emotion to contemporary designs for hotels, estates and public-art spaces, each piece is made with the same commitment to quality, character and care.
Charles remains hands-on in every stage of design and creation, travelling worldwide to oversee installations and personally collaborate with clients. What began with a young boy, a forge and a fascination for steel has grown into a global studio, still rooted in the countryside, and still devoted to the timeless principles of craft, connection and creativity.
From Elliott of London to Charles Elliott Sculpture
After a decade of growth, creativity and global expansion, Elliott of London evolved into Charles Elliott Sculpture, a rebrand that reflects both the studio's international reach and the personal connection behind every piece. Over the years, the name Elliott of London became associated with traditional British craftsmanship and excellence. Yet as the studio's work expanded beyond London to serve collectors, architects and designers across the world, it became clear the brand had outgrown its original roots.
The change was not about moving away from who we are, but about moving forward: honouring the heritage of British-made craftsmanship and authentic artistry, while embracing a new era of international collaboration and creative ambition. Elliott of London Ltd is now Charles Elliott Sculpture Ltd, the same company, renamed and rebranded under a name that better reflects its worldwide reach.
