Hand-forged at our Wolds Farm studio, each piece rises in a smooth, continuous curve, capturing a quiet sense of energy and rhythm. Available in oxidised steel, zinc, or luxurious bronze, the sculpture may be finished in verdigris, traditional dark bronze, or polished bronze, with each material offering its own depth, character, and longevity. The Spiral Sculpture is offered in three considered sizes, each proportioned to preserve the integrity, balance, and flow of the form:
150 cm × 50 cm diameter (59 in × 20 in diameter)

"Black Beauty" Black Powder Coated Spiral Sculpture

The most simplistic yet stunning Spiral Sculpture that just oozes elegance making this piece unapologetically modern with a vintage twist. The method in which these sculptures are created & for that matter even started; is simple old-fashioned pencil to paper, this is where his ideas start to come to life. A sketch will be hand drawn by Charles within his studio, giving the sphere details & design prior to establishing sizes, measurements & dimensions.

Created using raw 8mm flat sheet mild steel, the spiral starts out as a lifeless exceptionally plain sheet of metal. Charles & the team will carefully work out the lengths required to create each size sculpture prior to cutting the mention med sheet into effectively elongated triangular pieces. The sheet will be joined if necessary before the magic happens. These now precisely cut elongated triangles will now be carefully fed through the enormous vintage rollers within the studio- sometimes taking up to four members of the team to hold & guide them through due to the weight & length of the pieces.

This is where the stunning curves, corkscrews & waves come alive & it can sometimes take over 5 or 6 rolls to get the required end result. The now two corkscrew pieces will need to be placed together carefully to get the best overall view. They are then positioned upon their base which will eventually be hidden once installed.

Once entire, the spiral will undergo a sand blasting process to ensure an immaculate end article no matter which finish is chosen. For all of our spirals we offer the finish of the luxurious rustic patina,adding that stunning orangey toned finish or another option is our hot zinc galvanise finished, giving not only the longevity due to the process but providing a life long stunning silvery grey effect. The Spirals are even available in a selection of carefully selected hand painted finishes, which include our traditional verdigris & gold and the modern popular matte black & copper.

We are even able to offer full powder coat colours from the RAL colour chart should you wish to have your own twist on the finishes. With all of the options available above & the option of an array of sizes, patterns & styles make this popular sphere suitable for pretty it makes our spirals a popular choice of pretty much any garden or outdoor space.

The sculpture may be commissioned in steel or bronze, with the choice of material and finish guided entirely by personal preference and the character of its intended setting.

In steel, finishes include a refined oxidised patina, where the surface is protected from within and allowed to develop a quiet, architectural presence through natural exposure, as well as hot-dipped zinc and professionally applied painted finishes in a considered palette of tonal, metallic, and luxury surface treatments.

In bronze, the sculpture may be finished in patination: Verdigris Bronze, Traditional Dark Bronze, or Polished Bronze, each individually patinated and hand-finished to achieve depth, warmth, and a surface that will mature beautifully over time.

Both materials are crafted with the same level of care and intention, allowing the sculpture to be tailored precisely to its environment — whether architectural, landscape-led, contemporary, or traditional.

We offer a low-voltage LED uplighter for your sculpture, available in warm white (3000K) or cool white options. Our IP68-rated brushed stainless steel light is supplied with a dimmable driver and includes a 12-month standard warranty, with a 7-year manufacturer’s warranty when registered online.

We’re happy to work alongside your electrician to find the best solution for power supply and installation. Additional lighting designs are available upon request, depending on the desired visual effect.
