Ram & Sheep Sculpture – Flock

Full of rural charm and sculptural detail, our Blackface Sheep Sculpture is a celebration of traditional British farming heritage. Hand-forged in steel at our countryside studio, each piece is shaped to reflect the distinctive features of this iconic breed — from its strong stance to the characteristic curled horns and textured fleece. Finished in a rustic or galvanised patina, it’s designed to sit proudly in gardens, meadows, or alongside rural pathways, weathering beautifully over time. A heartfelt nod to the pastoral landscape, this sculpture brings personality, craftsmanship, and a touch of the hills to any outdoor space.

Hot Zinc Galvanised Black Face Sheep Flock Sculpture

Whether you’re after a single sheep or a whole flock, these charming yet lifelike Sheep sculptures make a delightful addition to any farming-themed or countryside-loving home. Perfect for driveways, gardens, flower beds, or lawns, they bring character and warmth to your outdoor space. Charles has dedicated time to studying, observing, and learning every essential detail to craft these majestic sculptures — each one uniquely brought to life, ensuring no two are exactly the same. The process begins in the traditional way: simple pencil to paper.

Charles hand-draws each sketch in his studio, capturing movement, character, and lifelike qualities before setting sizes, measurements, and dimensions. Once the design is finalized, Charles transfers the sketch onto a large metal foot plate using artist’s chalk. This chalk outline can remain on the floor for up to a week while Charles continuously edits and perfects the drawing until he is completely satisfied. When ready, the sculpture’s outline is hand-bent from 8mm or 10mm mild steel bar, carefully shaping all the curves before welding the structure to stand upright. With the bare outline in place, including accurately positioned legs, the sculpture’s true size comes to life. This is a critical stage where Charles and the team assess any potential imperfections or challenges.

Next, smaller 6mm or 8mm mild steel bars are hand-bent into intricate swirls and patterns to build muscle definition, the texture and depth of the fleece coat, and the movement and character of the animal. This stage is where the sculpture truly breathes life. As Charles and his team infill the body structure, limbs, facial features, and exceptional muscle details, each sculpture emerges as a one-of-a-kind work of art. Finally, the finer touches — the tail, small horns, nose, ears, and even the eyes — are hand-crafted using some of the oldest blacksmithing methods.

Tools like the 1920’s power hammer, forge, and anvil help add that extra magic and authenticity to every piece. These intricate details contribute to the uniqueness of each sculpture. While the rustic patina finish is available for all our sculptures, we often favor the luxurious hot zinc galvanised finish. Not only does this offer superb anti-rust protection and longevity, but it also gives the sculptures an added touch of quality — a finish truly worthy of admiration.
