Pheasant Sculpture

£720.00

Graceful, alert, and full of countryside character, our Pheasant Sculpture captures the timeless beauty of one of Britain’s most iconic game birds. Hand-forged in steel at our Wolds Farm studio, each piece is shaped with elegant detail — from the long, sweeping tail feathers to the proud, upright posture.

Designed to bring movement and charm to gardens, estates, or rural homes, it stands as a tribute to traditional British wildlife and artisan craftsmanship. Available in a selection of durable outdoor finishes, including rustic and galvanised, the Pheasant Sculpture is a striking feature that celebrates both form and heritage — made to stand proudly through the seasons.

Rustic Patina Pheasant Sculpture

An ideal sculpture for any countryside or wildlife lover, with tones that blend seamlessly into nature to ensure harmony, making it perfectly suited for any garden or outdoor space. With farming land forming a significant part of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire’s countryside, Charles has been able to study, watch, and learn all the necessary characteristics to create these stunning Pheasant sculptures, bringing each one to life — meaning no two are ever the same.

The process begins the traditional way, with simple old-fashioned pencil to paper — this is where Charles’s ideas first come to life. A sketch is hand-drawn in his studio, capturing the animal’s movement, character, and lifelike qualities before establishing sizes, measurements, and dimensions. Once complete, the sketch is transferred by Charles onto a large metal foot plate in the studio using artists’ chalk. The chalk sketch can remain on the floor for up to a week as Charles edits, alters, and adapts it until he is completely happy. When satisfied, the outline of the sculpture is hand-bent using 8mm or 10mm mild steel bar, ensuring every curve of the outline is perfect before welding it together to stand upright.

At this stage, the bare frame of the sculpture is stood up, with each leg correctly positioned so the full body outline is visible in its true size. This is a crucial moment where Charles and the team assess any imperfections or challenges the sculpture might present. Each smaller 6mm or 8mm mild steel bar is then hand-bent and cut to create muscle definition, depth, movement, and character.

This is truly when the sculpture comes to life — as Charles and his team infill the body structure, limbs, facial features, and extraordinary muscle details, bringing the animal’s motion and personality into being. Once the main structure is complete, the finer details such as the tail, nose, eyes, and feet are carefully handcrafted. Some of these details involve using the oldest blacksmithing methods — including the 1920s power hammer, forge, and anvil — to enhance the magic of each sculpture.

The sculpture then moves on to its finishing process. Creating the Rustic Patina finish requires time to develop the desired aesthetics. We use an in-house formulated solution — a cocktail of all-natural and non-harmful products — to encourage that warm, golden-orange-brown patina that perfectly complements the sculpture’s surroundings. Additionally, an optional finish is available for the Pheasant sculpture, where we hand-apply the stunning, vibrant colours of the Cock Pheasant, giving the piece that extra something truly special.
