Graceful, alert, and quietly powerful — our handcrafted Fox Sculpture captures the elusive charm and intelligence of one of Britain’s most iconic woodland creatures.
Individually forged from solid steel in our Hertfordshire countryside workshop, each fox is brought to life using traditional blacksmithing techniques that honour both the natural form and enduring strength of the material. From its flowing tail to its poised, ready stance, every detail is shaped with care — reflecting the fox’s agility, curiosity, and quiet confidence.
Whether nestled among wild grasses, positioned on a garden path, or placed as a focal point within a landscaped estate, this sculpture brings character, story, and natural motion to any outdoor space. Available in your choice of rustic patina or galvanised finish, it is built to weather the seasons gracefully — becoming more beautiful as it ages. A lasting celebration of British wildlife and artistry, and a statement of craftsmanship that’s both subtle and striking.
An Ideal Sculpture for Countryside and Wildlife LoversWith tones that naturally blend into any garden or outdoor space, the Fox Sculpture brings harmony to your surroundings, making it a perfect fit for lovers of British wildlife and rural beauty. Foxes are a prolific and beloved part of Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire’s natural heritage. Charles has spent years observing and studying their unique characteristics, allowing him to bring each sculpture to life with personality and authenticity—ensuring no two are ever exactly alike.
The creative journey begins the old-fashioned way: pencil to paper. Charles hand-draws each fox in his studio, capturing its movement, character, and lifelike qualities before working out sizes, measurements, and dimensions. Once satisfied with the drawing, Charles transfers the sketch onto a large metal foot plate using artist’s chalk. This chalk outline remains on the studio floor for up to a week while Charles continually edits and refines it until perfect. With the design finalized, the outline is hand-bent from 8mm or 10mm mild steel bar, carefully shaping all the curves before welding it into a freestanding frame.
Once upright and balanced—with every leg in place—the sculpture’s true size and form become clear. This is a crucial moment for Charles and the team to spot and correct any imperfections or challenges. Next, smaller 6mm or 8mm mild steel bars are hand-bent and cut to craft the muscle definition, depth, movement, and character that truly bring the fox to life.
This stage is truly magical—adding body structure, limbs, facial features, and the extraordinary muscle tone and motion that make each sculpture unique. The finer details follow, such as the iconic bushy tail, nose, and ears, all handcrafted using traditional blacksmithing techniques. Some of these elements are shaped with the help of historic tools like the 1920’s power hammer, forge, and anvil—infusing each piece with a touch of old-world magic. Finally, the sculpture undergoes its finishing process. Our signature hot zinc galvanised coating is applied, providing exceptional longevity and a sophisticated twist on the traditional rustic look. The result is a stunning, durable work of art that honors both the wild spirit of the fox and the timeless craft of British blacksmithing.
