Stunning Swifts In Flight Interior Sculpture

Our Interior Sculptures: Delicate Yet PowerfulEach small interior piece is crafted with the same meticulous attention to detail as our larger exterior sculptures. The creative process begins the same way every time — with simple, old-fashioned pencil to paper. Charles hand-draws each sketch in his studio, imbuing the sculpture with movement, character, and lifelike qualities before determining its size, measurements, and dimensions.

Once the design is finalised, the sketch is transferred onto a bench plate using artist’s chalk. This chalk outline may remain for up to a week, during which Charles continually edits and refines it until he’s completely satisfied. When pieces need to be cut from mild steel sheets, Charles prepares the artwork digitally and uses either a handheld plasma cutter or CNC table for precision cutting. Each component is then carefully fettled, textured if required, and smoothed around the edges.

This stage is truly magical — as Charles begins assembling the sculpture, welding wings to bodies or tail feathers to tails with utmost care to bring each unique piece to life. The finer details, such as curled wing tips or bent tail feathers, are shaped to add that extra spark of vitality. All smaller interior sculptures are mounted on sturdy bases made from thicker mild steel sheets, ensuring stability and durability.

Our signature finish for interior art is a beautiful brushed steel effect, achieved by hand with a wire brush and a bit of elbow grease. To preserve the natural tones of the metal, each piece is sealed with a matte or gloss lacquer. We also offer a variety of alternative finishes, including hand painting, powder coating from the full RAL colour chart, or a simple hot zinc galvanised finish. Please note: these interior pieces are designed for indoor use, but we’re happy to adapt them for outdoor display if required. Ready to find their new home, these sculptures make perfect gifts or personal treasures — delicate, powerful, and uniquely crafted.
