Graceful and commanding, our Interior Red Kite Sculpture captures the soaring elegance of this iconic British bird of prey. Hand-forged in steel by our skilled artisans, each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to the Red Kite’s distinctive outstretched wings, forked tail, and fluid motion.
Finished in a warm, contemporary patina, it is perfectly sized for display on mantelpieces, shelves, or sideboards — bringing a sense of wild beauty and freedom into your home. A celebration of craftsmanship and countryside heritage, this striking sculpture makes a thoughtful gift or timeless interior feature.
Our Interior Pieces: Delicate Yet PowerfulEach small interior sculpture is crafted with the same attention to detail as our larger exterior works. The process begins just as it does for all our creations — with simple, old-fashioned pencil to paper, where Charles’s ideas first come to life. A sketch is hand drawn by Charles in his studio, giving the sculpture movement, character, and lifelike qualities before finalising sizes, measurements, and dimensions.
Once complete, the sketch is transferred onto a bench plate using artists’ chalk. This chalk outline can remain on the bench for up to a week while Charles edits, alters, and refines the design until he is completely satisfied. Where pieces need to be cut from mild steel sheets, Charles creates and uploads the artwork before cutting it out with either a handheld plasma cutter or CNC table. Each piece is then fettled, textured if required, and softened around the edges before assembly.
This is truly where the sculpture comes to life — one of the most magical stages in our creative process. Charles carefully and slowly welds the components together, whether it’s attaching wings to a body or tail feathers to a tail, with great care to create these unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Once assembled, finer details such as curling, bending, and manipulating tail feathers or wing tips add that extra touch of life to the artwork. All smaller interior sculptures are securely affixed to bases made from thicker mild steel sheets, ensuring stability.
Our preferred finish for interior pieces is a brushed steel effect, achieved by applying elbow grease and a wire brush. We then seal the pieces with a layer of either matte or gloss lacquer to preserve the natural tones of the metal. We can also offer a variety of other finishes for interior sculptures, including hand painting, powder coating from the RAL colour chart, or a simple hot zinc galvanised finish. Please note, these interior pieces are not designed for outdoor use, but we’re happy to adapt them if you’d like to display them outside. Now complete, these sculptures are ready for their new home — perfect as a special gift or a personal treasure.
