The studio works in bronze and steel at architectural and landmark scale, creating sculpture designed to respond to its setting, its architecture and the way people move around it. For developers and councils, that means public art and public-realm sculpture that gives a scheme identity and a genuine sense of place. For hotels and hospitality, it means a signature arrival piece guests remember. For private estates and collectors, it means a bespoke bronze sculpture sited to be lived with for generations. In every case the work is conceived as art but delivered as a build.
Most commissions are bespoke: an original, site-specific bronze or steel public artwork created around your place, its architecture and the people who will use it. The studio offers three clear routes. A fully bespoke landmark, designed from a blank sheet. An established Charles Elliott design, adapted in material, scale and finish for a faster, lower-risk route to a signature piece. Or a flexible delivery model, where the studio is engaged for concept and design alone for a client's own fabricator, or for the complete turnkey build, installation and aftercare. Unlike many studios, the budget band and programme are agreed and shared up front, and Charles remains the single accountable point of contact throughout.

Work is created in steel and bronze, with a wide range of patinations and finishes, and can be scaled to suit both intimate architectural spaces and grand public realms. Commissions are planned to a fixed scope with staged milestones, so the sculpture is never the item that slips a construction programme. Logistics, craneage, installation and insurance are handled by the studio, in the UK and internationally, and the work is installed by the people who made it. On handover, maintenance and patina-care guidance is provided so the piece ages exactly as intended. Much high-end public art is funded through planning: Section 106 agreements and percent-for-art policies require developers to commission artwork as part of a consented scheme. The studio partners with public-art consultants, landscape architects, masterplanners and developer placemaking teams from concept stage, so a landmark or feature artwork is integrated into the design early rather than added late. This is where the best public-realm sculpture comes from, and where budgets are set.
A commission moves through four clear stages: consultation on site, brief, scale and budget; design development with scale models, finish samples and engineering coordination; fabrication, in the studio or across trusted partners for the largest works; and delivery, installation and aftercare. As a guide, feature commissions typically run from £25,000 to £250,000+ over six to twelve months, while landmark installations range from £50,000 to £2m+ and take up to eighteen months for the most complex works. Bronze is the material of permanence, made to last centuries and developing a living patina that deepens with age; it is the standard by which serious civic and landmark work is judged. Steel is contemporary and architectural, in oxidised, galvanised and patinated finishes, ideal for bold, graphic forms at scale and for sculpture that answers modern architecture directly. Both are handcrafted in Britain at the studio at Wolds Farm, Tring.
Recent commissions include a four-metre fabricated bronze horse head for a private estate in Cheshire; Meeting Point, three seed-form sculptures rising to 7.5 metres at the canal basin in Kingsbrook, Aylesbury, delivered with Barratt Redrow and Buckinghamshire Council; A Story of the Osprey, a wildlife sculpture trail in Hertford for Croudace Homes; a sectional rooftop sculpture for the Marriott in Mayfair with Hastie Studios; and spheres and illuminated features for a private residence in Lytham St Annes. The studio also delivers fundraising sculpture: a national programme for Dogs Trust with The Good Agency, using thousands of memorial name tags across 21 sites and projected to raise several million pounds a year, and a related fundraising sculpture concept for the MSPCA in Boston. These sit alongside hundreds of large-scale sculptures delivered from £25,000 to £2m+, from design-only concepts through to full turnkey commissions.

The studio has delivered across the UK, Europe, the USA and the Middle East. Larger overseas projects are built in the UK and shipped, or delivered by the studio's own team working from a rented space on location, so the same standard of design, engineering and installation travels with the commission. Charles Elliott welcomes international partnerships and regularly works with overseas architects, designers, developers and commissioning bodies, managing worldwide shipping, export documentation and on-site installation coordination where required.
Charles Elliott is an internationally renowned, award-winning British sculptor. He began working in metal as a boy and took his first commission at sixteen; self-taught, he has spent over ten years building a studio known for equestrian, wildlife and abstract forms in bronze and steel, and for delivering them at landmark scale.
