The Organic Zinc Sphere by Charles Elliott Sculpture fuses contemporary artistry with nature-inspired form. Handcrafted from mild steel and hot-dip galvanised, each sphere features flowing, organic lines that echo the raw beauty of the natural world — all finished in a striking silver hue.
Its bold silhouette and reflective surface bring sculptural drama to any setting, while the galvanised coating offers exceptional durability and year-round weather resistance. Designed to withstand the elements without compromising on style, this piece is equally at home in modern gardens, landscaped spaces, or urban courtyards.
Sleek yet organic. Strong yet graceful. The Organic Galvanised Sphere is a lasting testament to the harmony between industrial craftsmanship and the fluid elegance of nature.
Sizes & Proportions: Available in three refined scales: 100 cm, 150 cm, and 200 cm (approximately 39 in, 59 in, and 79 in), each carefully proportioned to retain the sculpture’s balance and presence.
Bespoke dimensions may also be commissioned, including 65 cm (26 in) and 125 cm (49 in), with additional larger custom sizes available by request.
One of our most celebrated pieces, the Organic Sphere Sculpture is a bold expression of nature translated into contemporary art. Sculptural and fluid, each piece is handmade at our countryside studio — a perfect harmony of craftsmanship, design, and organic form. As with all of Charles’s creations, the process begins with a pencil sketch. Drawn by hand in the studio, the initial concept is developed on paper, where form, scale, and movement are thoughtfully refined.
Once the design is finalised, mould frames – affectionately known as our “hanging basket” frames – are mounted onto the base plate, ready for the sculpting to begin. Lengths of 6mm round mild steel bar are carefully cut, hand-bent, and shaped into undulating waves. These wavy pieces are then trimmed to size and precisely placed onto the mould, slowly forming the intended spherical shape — organic yet perfectly balanced. Each sphere is crafted in two halves to ensure a flawless final shape. Once formed, the halves are removed from the frames, aligned, and securely welded together before undergoing their finishing touches. Before any finish is applied, every sculpture is thoroughly sandblasted to create a clean and even surface, ensuring a high-quality final result.
We offer several finishes to suit your style:
Rustic patina – with its rich, warm tones of orange and copper, brings a natural, weathered charm
Hot-dip galvanised – a silver-grey finish that provides both aesthetic appeal and long-term protection from the elements
Powder coating – available in a wide range of RAL colours, for a custom twist that suits any setting
With a variety of sizes, patterns, and finishes to choose from, our Organic Sphere is a truly versatile sculpture — making it a popular choice for gardens, driveways, and landscaped spaces across the country. A contemporary tribute to the forms found in nature, built to endure and be admired for generations.
