Charles Elliott Sculpture
British Craftsmanship | Modern Vision | Global Presence
Charles Elliott Sculpture is a British studio creating contemporary sculpture for private collectors, architects, designers, and public art projects worldwide.
Founded by sculptor Charles Elliott, the studio combines fine craftsmanship with contemporary design — creating works that live harmoniously in their surroundings and resonate for generations.
From our rural studio at Wolds Farm in the Chiltern Hills, every sculpture is designed, formed, and finished by hand.
Though the studio is just over a decade old, the journey began almost 25 years ago — with a young boy, a family forge, and a fascination with form.
Early Beginnings — A Natural Eye for Form and Movement
Born in 1993, Charles grew up surrounded by the countryside, creativity, and horses.
At the age of ten, he began learning to shape steel in his uncle’s forge, working alongside his brother — now a professional farrier who shoes horses across the UK.
Those early days spent watching his brother at work and observing the anatomy, motion, and power of horses deeply influenced Charles’s understanding of form, structure, and balance — elements that now define much of his artistic practice.
By 2009, aged sixteen, Charles completed his first commission: a steel sculpture for Burger King in the United States.
Two years later, in 2011, a second commission followed. For a self-taught teenager, these projects marked the beginning of an international career before the age of twenty.
2014 — The First Studio at Hawridge & Chesham Vale
In 2014, Charles opened his first professional studio in Hawridge, near Chesham Vale — surrounded by farmland and horses.
Here, he began developing his distinctive sculptural language, exploring how movement and emotion could be expressed through the permanence of metal.
It was during this time that Charles began creating equestrian and wildlife sculptures, translating the grace and power of the animals he grew up around into steel, bronze, and oxidised finishes.
Each piece became a study of energy, anatomy, and spirit — blending fine art with an understanding that can only come from a lifetime spent around horses.
2015–2018 — International Growth and Design Collaboration
By 2015, just a year after establishing the studio, Charles’s sculptures were being shipped and commissioned internationally — particularly to the United States.
Working with architects, hotel groups, and landscape designers, he began creating bespoke sculptures for luxury developments and private estates across Florida, New York, and Texas.
This period also marked a deepening of Charles’s design process: blending creative design with engineering precision to produce works that could exist outdoors, in architectural settings, or as stand-alone pieces of art.
By 2018, the studio had outgrown its original home and relocated to a larger site in Berkhamsted, allowing for more complex fabrication and a growing team of artists and craftspeople.
A Family Studio — Built on Craft, Vision & Connection
It was at this stage that Sammy Elliott, Charles’s wife, joined the company full-time.
Her expertise in organisation, client care, and business operations helped structure the growing studio, turning Charles’s creative momentum into a refined and sustainable art practice.
“Sammy brought calm to my creative chaos. She gave me space to focus on the work that truly matters — and turned the noise into direction.”
— Charles Elliott
Together, they built a studio defined by craftsmanship, family, and authenticity — qualities that continue to guide every project today.
Supporting British Equestrianism
Horses remain at the heart of Charles Elliott Sculpture — both in inspiration and in community.
Since 2018, the studio has proudly supported British equestrian sport, sponsoring talented young riders including:
- Joseph Stockdale, international showjumper and son of Olympic medallist Tim Stockdale,
- David Britnell, British event rider competing at Badminton Horse Trials
- Alex Harrison, professional British Dressage competitor and trainer.
This commitment reflects the studio’s belief in nurturing the next generation of British talent — whether in sport or the arts.
For Charles, supporting these riders isn’t just sponsorship; it’s a continuation of the same spirit of craft, dedication, and pursuit of excellence that fuels his own work.
2019–2024 — Expanding Global Partnerships
Following years of steady growth, Charles Elliott Sculpture continued to collaborate with architects, designers, and developers across the UK, Europe, and the United States, creating site-specific sculptures for hotels, commercial properties, and public spaces.
From contemporary corten-steel installations to elegant bronze commissions, each work is made in Britain and installed worldwide by Charles and his team — ensuring consistency, precision, and personal care at every stage.
This period also saw the development of long-term partnerships with designers, property developers, and art consultants, solidifying the studio’s international reputation for delivering complex projects with a deeply personal touch.
2025 — Wolds Farm Studio, Tring
In 2025, the studio entered its newest chapter with the move to Wolds Farm, Tring, a larger countryside space designed for creativity, collaboration, and growth.
Located in the Chiltern Hills, the new studio combines traditional tools with modern fabrication techniques — a reflection of Charles’s belief that innovation should always honour heritage.
With Tring Station nearby, the location connects directly to London and Milton Keynes, and offers discreet access for international visitors via Heathrow or Luton Airport.
Helicopter arrivals and chauffeur collections can be arranged by appointment, allowing clients to visit privately and experience the sculptures in person.
Today — British by Hand, Global by Heart
Now in its second decade, Charles Elliott Sculpture stands as one of Britain’s leading independent sculpture studios — working with private collectors, architects, and commercial clients across the world.
From equestrian and wildlife sculptures that capture movement and emotion to contemporary designs for hotels, estates, and public art spaces, each piece is made with the same commitment to quality, character, and care.
Charles remains hands-on in every stage of design and creation, travelling worldwide to oversee installations and personally collaborate with clients.
What began with a young boy, a forge, and a fascination for steel has grown into a global studio — still family-run, still rooted in the countryside, and still devoted to the timeless principles of craft, connection, and creativity.
“Great sculpture doesn’t just exist. It holds presence. It should make you pause, feel something, and remember where you were when you saw it.”
— Charles Elliott
2025 — A New Chapter: From Elliott of London to Charles Elliott Sculpture
After a decade of growth, creativity, and global expansion, Elliott of London evolved into Charles Elliott Sculpture — a rebrand that reflects both the studio’s international reach and the personal connection behind every piece.
Over the years, the name Elliott of London became associated with traditional British craftsmanship and excellence. Yet as the studio’s work expanded beyond London to serve collectors, architects, and designers across the world, it became clear that the brand had outgrown its original roots.
What began as a London-based vision has since developed into a global sculpture studio — built on Charles’s reputation, relationships, and hands-on approach.
From private commissions and commercial projects to public art installations, the studio’s clientele now spans continents, united by a shared appreciation for enduring, hand-crafted design.
The rebrand to Charles Elliott Sculpture represents that evolution:
a name that carries forward the values of British-made craftsmanship, authentic artistry, and family integrity, while embracing a new era of international collaboration and creative ambition.
This change was not about moving away from who we are — but about moving forward, honouring our heritage while opening the door to new opportunities, clients, and ideas.
